Really need to get away, but don’t have the time and/or funds? Check out themed restaurants and/or dinner shows (Medieval Times, anyone?). Now maybe I just have a big imagination (I do), but going to places that have a theme or that are inspired by different cultures can give me the feeling of being transported far from where I actually am. For example, Suppenküche, a German restaurant in San Francisco, allows me to have all the Bratwurst and Hefeweizen I could want in an authentic environment at a much cheaper price than an actual trip to Germany (trust me I am planning one now). So, your next great escape just might be in your own backyard!
